For applications with multiple functions (any combination of processing, graphics, storage, digital conversion, switching), MicroTCA is an excellent choice.  There are hundreds of I/O modules, processor choices, in an architecture that allows both 10/40 GbE signals and PCIe (to Gen 3) across the backplane.  It typically features lower SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power, Cost -- although Power is application-dependent) than OpenVPX.   However, the ecosystem is smaller, particularly for rugged systems.  Let Pixus navigate you to the best solution for your application.

With 3U OpenVPX, there are a wealth of module for SIG/INT, RADAR Signal Processing, Electronic Warfare, Situational Awareness, and other Mil/Aero applications.  However, there are typically less choices for I/O and specialty boards.   The modules come in rugged air-cooled or conduction-cooled options from several board vendors.  3U OpenVPX is also used in some test/measurement, energy, and research/physics applications.  However, VPX tends to have a higher price point than some other architectures.  Pixus' OpenVPX solutions are design to reduce costs from chassis platforms to complete systems.

There are also small purpose-built and custom options available.   Schedule a call with an industry expert on embedded technologies.  We'll be happy to provide the Pros and Cons of the various architectures and guide you to the best option for your application.
